Meeako Had Short-Term Memory Loss

After getting Meeako to answer real questions in the last post, I kept testing. And I started noticing something frustrating.

Ask a slightly vague question, get asked to clarify. Answer the clarification, get asked again. No progress.

Three messages in and I was back where I started.

What was happening

Every conversation in Meeako was resetting between turns.

I'd say "Show me flows." Meeako would ask which app. I'd say "NYT." Meeako would ask which flow. I'd say "Search." And instead of answering, it would tell me there were no user flows available for NYT Search.

It had forgotten everything I just told it.

In user terms it felt like talking to someone with short term memory loss. Each message was its own isolated conversation. Nothing carried forward.

What it looks like after the fix

Same three messages. Different experience.

"Show me flows." Meeako asks which app. "NYT." It finds 6 user flows for the New York Times web app and lists them. "Search." It walks me through the Search flow, with screens.

Meeako remembered NYT from the previous turn. When I said "Search" it knew I meant the NYT Search flow. No re-explaining. No circles.

Why this matters

The goal was never to answer isolated questions. It was to have a conversation that builds.

A conversation that resets isn't a conversation. It's a series of disconnected queries. And disconnected queries can't produce the kind of layered insight I'm trying to get to.

Memory isn't a nice to have. It's what makes the difference between a tool you query and a tool you think with.
